2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee has Features and Power to Spare

Chrysler Group LLC’s completely redesigned 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee draws on the past, but definitely has an eye firmly on the future.

Lest anyone forget Jeep’s proud heritage, the new Grand Cherokee features small badges on the steering wheel and left headlamp that proclaim, “Since 1941.”  The right headlamp is adorned with a small, chrome image of the original Jeep.  When it comes to styling and performance, the 2014 is a far cry from those drab green military buggies.

Perhaps the most exciting news for Jeep enthusiasts is the fact that they’ll have the option of a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine capable of churning out 360 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque.  If power isn’t a concern, you can always go with the standard 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 which delivers 290 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

Regardless of the engine you choose, the 2014 Grand Cherokee features an all-new eight-speed automatic transmission.

Jeep claims an estimated 14 mpg / city and 20 mpg / highway for the HEMI option.

Another optional feature is the manually adjustable Quadra-Lift air suspension which can be set to four different driving heights. In Normal mode, the suspension provides 8.7 inches of ground clearance. The two off-road modes give you 1.3 inches, or 2.6 inches of lift, depending on the terrain. In Aero mode, the suspension lowers to a more aerodynamic and fuel efficient 0.6 inch below the standard height.  The Quadra-Lift system is available on the Limited model and comes standard on the Summit and Overland models.

The four-wheel-drive system features a Selec-Terrain knob which can be adjusted for a variety of driving conditions including rocks, mud, sand and snow, and the hill-decent feature provides additional stability when driving off-road.

The 2014 Grand Cherokee features a standard 7-inch touch screen. An optional 8.5-inch touch screen allows the driver to control a variety of functions including GPS navigation, Sirius/MX Satellite Radio, and a syncable, voice-activated phone system.

Prices for the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee range from $28,995 to around 63,660 for the top of the line model.
